Default Car starting problem

Am considering buying a car (from someone who aparently comes onto this board in fact) but there was a little problem on the test drive.

Having started the car to test drive it (the engine was warm when I arrived) and driven for five minutes, I pulled in to look around the car. When it came to start it again however, no go! Owner could not start it either, and it had to be push started. Basically, upon pressing the start button, there was a click, and then nothing more until the alarm eventually went off (this happened a few times before we gave in).

What is this likely to be?

Also, what is the 45,000 mile service, and how much are we talking roughly from a Honda dealer?

Finally, what would you expect the correct price for a 1999 with 47k on the clock, UK car, FHSH in good condition and well documented history to be?

Thanks in advance guys.

Almost certainly battery.

Nowt to worry about!

Alrams tend to go off when the battery is low, and the starter wont engage as there isn't enough oomph.

Price - never easy. I'd be looking at about

Get him to change the battery and have another test drive.

Definitely the battery - not limited to S2000s either, I know of an NSX that had this very problem quite recently (And no, I'm not saying whose either)
