Maybe in Wigan.... but not elsewhere £4k is its max value really (and that's pushing it), if you pay towards 5k for a written off 02 plate then...

Pics are required for what's been replaced etc. I'd be suspicious of a new chain at 72k? That's still low miles really and the chain lasts longer than that (I appreciate there's no given mileage and owner TCT rattles/worries, but its a £1k job and really has to be bad to be changed). Providing evidence of this is critical, if no evidence is shown then your way under £4k pal for anyone on here.
However, if its a really good repair, loads of history etc then you'll easily sell. I would buy a cat D, many would if its been sorted. Loads and loads of owners (even on here) have had prangs, and not recorded

 

Category D Insurance Write Off means the vehicle is economically repairable but other factors are involved that cause the insurer to declare the vehicle a write off. Usually the replacement car hire is too costly or it will take too long for a specialist part to be delivered and the company decide it's worth paying out for the car instead of taking the risk of paying several months car hire on top of the cost to repair.

What it doesn't specify is what was wrong with the car to cause it to be written off, so it could be structural just as easily as it could be just panel damage - but without the assessor's report, all a punter has to go on is your word.

Cat C and D cars can be bargains, I've had a couple but you need to know what your buying and that your market is limited as a seller - your market is even more limited if you don't have the assessor's report as you're relying on experts or mugs to buy the car as the only assurance is either their expertise or your word.

Expect to achieve at least 25% less than a non writeoff as a sale price, regardless of what you've done to the car. And speak to your 'doctor' to get the assessors report.....

Actually it has been a while since I bought my last insurance write of so nevermind!

 

Guys all I'm looking for the car is to return the money I invested in it. Not looking to make a profit. I want to sell as is, I.e. Repaired and serviced with no MOT or tax and minus the hardtop. If I could get £3600 for it or there abouts, I'll be more than happy with that.

I will put pics up by the weekend and then you guys can tell me if it's worth it,.

 

You might be better off just advertising it for "too much" and seeing if you can get the price for it that you want.

 

If there's nothing wrong with it, then get an MOT on it.

I think you'll struggle to sell it without one.....
