Default CD Changer in Secret Compartment

Well, I have my new Alpine CDA-7894RB (Radio-CD) and CHA-S634 (6 Disc changer) at long last.
Head unit is all installed fine, but I need to know where to put the changer.

Someone said they had one installed in the secret compartment, I tried this but this changer is slightly too big, did whoever it was have to make any modifications? Also did you have to drill a hole for the cable? Isn't the petrol tank under there or round near there somewhere?

Anyone got any pics of where they have it installed? Preferably under the seat or in the secret compartment.

Thanks

Sean

I have my Alpine S624 6 disk changer mounted under the passenger seat - I really cannot think of a better place for it in the S - no usable space lost, no cutting, very inconspicuous.

Sorry, no pic's, but it is dead easy to do - (you need to remove the passenger seat - 4 bolts - just be carefl not to ding the car as you lift it out (and damage the seat whilst its out!) Mount the changer on the base of the seat so that it moves with the seat when adjusted (If you mount it on the floor it will foul the seat as the seat slides.

Absolutely! I followed Ians suggestion and have been very happy with the move. It only just fits and so makes the most efficient use of the space under the passenger seat.

It isnt possible to mount an autochanger flush with the underside of the seat, because of the uneven surface, but with the L-brackets you should have you can screw into the seat and mount it VERY firmly.

Give me a shout if you need more details.

Got a Rockford RFR3112 (1000W RMS) which I am going to run off my Phoenix Gold ZX475ti until the JL 1000/1 comes out.

Getting this installed next weekend.

Will see how it sounds off the 1000/1 when I get it, if I want more bass I will change the sub to a JL 12" W7.

Then will use the PG amp for the comps (still undecided)

Hopefully within a month (I remember saying that back in feb ) I will have it all done. Might even get along to the next super meet to show it off.

yeah, it's just a box.... will probably just push me to the custom install of a W7 even sooner.

Will try to kill as many rattles as possible, could be fun.
