Default CD to MP3

How do I convert my CDs to MP3 format?

Picked up a CD rewriter and the software does not do it unless I go "Platinum".

There are a number of commercially available packages that you can use to "rip" a CD into mp3 format. Windows Media Player has the facility to do it too - albeit it's a pretty basic version, without any of the bells and whistles of the commercial software. Still, it will do the job for you.

The WMP Help file explains how to do it.

I have over 20gb of music files and can heartily recommend Musicmatch, current version is 7.2 and you pay once for a lifetimes upgrades... well worth it as it looks up the track names for you when ripping your Cds and allows you to even out the volume of the tracks when making you own mxed CDS.

Keep well

I use CDex which is free! It does the track name look up and allows flexibility of mp3 quality seetings according to preferences.

Download this! Realplayer One-free! You can convert your cd music to mp3s and store them in the software library, you can make cds by transfering audio files to cd-r discs, do anything with this software!

http://www.real.com/realoneplayer.html?src...20614realhome_2
When you get there, look near the bottom right corner of site and find "download the free Realone Player Only" and click it. When the installation window appears, click "yes." The installation will take about 15 minutes with 56k
