Default Cell Code Readers

Hi all, I tried a search and failed! Wonder if anyone can help...

I have a VAGCOM which is a great system for the VW but is there something available for the S2000.

I have various odd running problems but no Engine lights... resetting the ECU helps but then it reverts to running strange.

If you could point me to a OBD2 reader or cable I would be much appreciated.

thanks

Phil

If you have no CEL light a code reader won't help.

But Geniscan GS300 is the one you want.

What are the symptoms of the car?

I have geniscan GS300 its a great cheap code reader. BTW the port its located on the left handside of the radio (well knee panel) pointing downwards.

Marc, the GS300 it doesnt fully reset the ECU does it like some?, just clears the light?.

Cheers

It should do.

You notice how it wont hold an idle after reset?

Well in the past i have had misfires etc, and cleared the light with the geniscan. The car hasnt had to re-learn idle?.

However remove the fuse and take off the neg battery terminal for a wee while and it learns idle again .

You only need to remove the fuse - not do the battery too though.

My GS300 seems to always reset the ECU as the idle is all over the shop.

Hi, thanks for the response MB,

I have noticed another post above which states similar syptoms. I have an erratic speedo, and the car just does not have the urge it used to have, and indeed has if I reset the ECU.

I dont have a CEL light showing, but there must be something wrong somewhere....

Going to look up the reader mentioned and read the post above.....

thanks

Look at MB signature theres a lot of helpful info there.

IMO its likely to require a MAP whack then ECU reset or you soaked the convertor.

Do you have a JDM version of the S2000?

Dont worry its likely to require something simple, most of us have had a similar problem with hesistation in the past its common with the S esp older models.

Yeah the car is a JDM S2000.....

Will give the MAP Tap a try....... not sure why the Speedo would be so erratic....

Gonna look for a deal on the Geniscan......
