Default Central locking issues?

So the day I put her up for sale again, the central locking stops working... intermittently.... superb

Sometimes it works fine on the remote. Other times:
  • when pressing lock on the remote, both driver and passenger door tabs go to the locked position and the doors lock as normal, but there are four locking sounds (something like "lock - unlock - lock - unlock"); then,
  • when pressing unlock in the remote, neither driver nor passenger door tabs move, and there is no lock or unlock sound;
  • in both cases (when locking or unlocking), the box to the far right of this (not very good) photo clicks twice whenever the door locking tab is activated. I don't what it does, but that seems to make some kind of sense
The key and immobiliser always work OK so the car is driveable.

I've checked all the fuses I can think of (there doesn't appear to be one listed in the handbook for "central locking" or "power door locks" but hey, the intermittent nature suggests it's not a fuse anyway).

I stripped the driver's interior door panel off, and all the rods etc are moving unobstructed.

Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you in advance.

could be an alarm issue - if you lock manually (with a key) is it all normal?

your alarm is plumbed in to the C/L system and probably has a duff connection or a dodgy relay

that might be a C/L unit you're looking at? dunno

Also worth checking the door shut sensors, if the alarm thinks a doors open then it will do the lock / unlock thing (did on my Prelude anyway)

If it is like mine you will get a couple of weeks of just locking and then that too will stop and you will have to buy a second hand one from Loftust which fixes it. That's what I did anyway. Garage will quote you £80 labour but it is a 30 minute job

Looks like the standard honda alarm install,

IIRC the central locking wires are spliced in at the box at the front - right of your picture, might be worth a look to see if the wires have broke or not been soldered correctly.

Lock actuator, the electrical unit that operates the rods

It is most likely that the driver's one has gone (ignore the fact that the rods move for now). It sticks, preventing the other door from opening

I'd see if GarageR or another breaker has one, as I'm out of those

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it might be the drivers' door actuator. Searching for a replacement.
