Chao's Moonrock Grey

17 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone

After owning my Moonrock S2K for over 2 years I thought I share my NA project through this thread. Let me start with the car specs

[attachment=48755:263732_10150708715025438_68326543 7_19598822_4348774_n.jpg]

It is a 2007 (57) Moonrock grey Roadster with 25,000 on the clock, after joining the S2KUK community after owning the car for 1 year and kept it standard the bug for tunning begins.

[attachment=48756:photo(2).JPG]

It started with the below:

1. Fibre Glass front lip (Copy of the OEM)

2. Copy of the OEM low level spoiler

Ugrade the wheels to set of 18" Staggered fitment Cades Tyrus wheels
Front 18" 5 x 114.3 ET45 8Js with 225-40-18 tyres
Rear 18" 5 x 114.3 ET45 9Js with 255-35-18 tyres

Love the looks on the wheels but after having it on the car for about 10 months realising it just doesnt drive as nice as the 17" I have rubbing on the rear arches so plan is to switch back to 17" wheels
[attachment=48758:photo(3).JPG]
[attachment=48759:photo(4).JPG]
[attachment=48760:photo(8).JPG]

Next on the list was

1. OEM hardtop
2. Side Strikes

[attachment=48762:524069_10152782440940438_22978185 _n.jpg]

Next was the engine tunning part where most of the £££ went into

1. K&N FIPK Gen 2 Induction kit
2. Tegiwa Exhaust Manifold (Js REP)
3. Invidia Q300 cat back with Titanium tip finish (From LSD Motors)
4. Berks Decat pipe
5. Hondata Flash Pro ECU (Tune from CPL Racing)
6. Meister R Zeta R coilovers
7. Tegiwa Carbon Fibre cooling plate
8. Kims chrome cross beam plate

Below are tsome pictures from all of the above mods

Here is a dyno sheet from CPL with all of the above mods map to.

Brake up grades was next on the list after the power increase

1. DBA drill and grooved street series disc all round
2. Carbotech XP8 carbon pads for the Front
3. Ferodo DS2500 pads for the rear

Since the car was lowered around 30mm I had massive problem with the front copy OEM lip it was just sitting too low and was scrapping everything and everywhere I go so I suffer the blow and order a original genuine facelift lip from Hendy and it was just perfect, the lip was higher and just fits on so much better also to the addition I have sold the 18" and went for a set of 17" Rota Fighters

Front 17" 8j 5 x 114.3 ET44 (215-45-17) Tyres
Rear 17" 9j 5 x 114.3 ET50 (245-40-17) Tyres

I have also just purchased a Password JDM induction kit and will update with pictures once fitted on :argh:

SlimJ GBR 11-13-2013 03:18 AM

Liking the look at the moment, saw you post pics up previously! :)

You lowered 30mm? Did you just fit the coilovers, no other parts? I have the same coilovers waiting to go on.

WinFreak 11-13-2013 03:24 AM

Looking good buddy :thumbup:

:thumbup: This project gets my approval :D. The Password:JDM intake will look good in your engine bay. I'd be interested to see a dyno comparison between K&N and PWJDM.

You're a brave man to use K&N oil filter with no filter stopper. :nono:

s2konroids 11-13-2013 04:00 AM

Looks great mate similar to my car lol.

Hi Slim

Yesh just the coil overs that is on they are amazing and very comfortable very OEM feel, but next on the list will be a Polybush kit but that is a very big job.

Yes very much looking forward to the insatllation of the Password JDM I also sold the Tegiwa Manifold and got a Solid Fabrication (Also know as DMS Pro65) its a Toda replica so would be very interesting to see the new dyno reading once I get it map again and I will post the result on here too :thumbup:

Well played, I see you have managed to get a Password intake. Thought Id post up a pic of mine in. It can be a bit tricky to fit, loosen a bit, tighten a bit etc etc, but well worth it. Id be interested to hear your opinion of it installed.

mattie170 11-13-2013 01:12 PM

I liked my password:Jdm filter but na was too slow for me. I had full manifold, decat, mugen exhaust, aem ecu and spoon throttle body and I made 225 bhp on a low reading dyno, last time I was mapped when the sc was still on I was at 490bhp on same dyno :thumbup:

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...0/ff5212e1.jpg

Agree about it being a pain in the arse to fit, I also had to mod the bonnet with a big hammer as the snorkel hit!! :LOL:

MB 11-14-2013 01:53 AM

Always worried me how it blocks about 50% of the radiator too.

Hi Nick

Yes just bought password JDM going down the NA route all the way and next on my list would be cams.

Hi MB

Thanks

MB 11-14-2013 02:19 AM

The Hytech ones I have are the best by far, but rocking horse turd to buy. Brian Crower stage 2 have proven good results. I'm sure Toda are good but they have many options and I've not seen proof of those.

Thanks MB I am going to look into the Hytech ones as CPL recommend me to use Toda but like you said there are many option with Toda so will most prob stick with Hytech :thumbup:

you should look for discs that have a coated centre and a coated bit on the outside of the rim part. They will rust

Hi WinFreak

They were DBA Street series the crack happend on the bit where it was drilled took the disc off and there was 3 massive crack lines around the disc but the funny thing is this only happen on the driver side and not the passenger side :ponder:

Hi Aston the DBA disc were coated, but think dril disc just looks good and not very good in terms of cooling and has very weak point on the drill bits, I have order a set of new DBA 4000 series disc which can take bit more temperature and also just grooved with no drills so this should resolve it.

I'd avoid the grooved discs as they will wear out your very expensive pads much more quickly.

There aren't many grooves in the DBA4000 discs. I had those discs and they are a very good disc.

They used to come with heat paint pre-applied so you can see what temperature the discs get to.

After 6 hours of hard work and adjustment the Password JDM is on! :argh:

But have to say the fitment on this kit is poor take so much effort in order to make it fit most of my time was spent on adjusting the latch for the bonnet to close!

I totally concur!!! A complete mother to fit. Loosening, pushing and tightening!! On the upside, it does pull nicely mid range.

Incidently what strutt brace have you fitted?

Another down fall to the weekend after fitting the new DBA 4000 T3 discs had a seized driver side front caliper so the car will be off road again for another week. I think the heat from cracking my first set of disc have damage the caliper what a blow to a weekend where I was going to test out the PWJDM :crycry:

chao888 11-30-2013 04:50 AM

Also I have indicators on my new disc it had reach temperature of 560 degrees C :(
