Default Clarkson tonite

Did anyone see the Clarkson programme tonight about the Japanese car industry??

He slated most Japanese cars apart from the Impreza and the Evo VI and there were some classic Clarkson comments about the NSX - namely how bad it was!

He went on about how every car is copied from Europe and how they fail, everytime, to capture the 'heart & soul' that you get from all good sports cars. Errrr.......very convenient to forget the s2k wasn't it Jeremy!!!

He didn't mention the s2k once!!!
I think he knew it was the opposite of basically everything he said about all the Japanese cars - it was very uncanny to watch.

Why does our car always get overlooked!!

Nice dose of VBH on Top Gear as well!!

I thought it was vintage clarkson. It had me in stitches, I loved the comment abount the suzuki wagon R 'The best selling car in Japan....Its a bloody Wendy House on wheels'`

I thought he gave the NSX fair praise just moaning about it copying the ferrari and then pointing out certain non ferrari things i.e. the nasty headlamp washers and that keyhole in the middle of an otherwise gorgeous panel. I thought it looked gorgeous in yellow though and I was drooling.

TG was also quite good tonite a 200mph electric people carrier, WTF!!!

I thought that FBS was a disaster, ugly as sin!!!!! 26K for something that ugly with a manual roof (which BTW didnt fit properly) and a 170hp Ford Engine, puts into perspective just how good our car is, for the same money you get the gorgeous looks, excellent build quality, electric roof and 240 magical horse. I bet Honda and S2000 in particular are swear words in that factory!!!! I think if FBS is going to succeed then that car needs a drastic overhaul and rapid as well as a 5K price cut. I can see them going the same way as strathcarron if thats the best they can do.

It was a great show - the S2000 probably would have received a mention had the programme been made recently as Clarkson loves it. As it happened, the programme was a change to the one advertised as Extreme Machines with Jeremy ranting about aircraft carriers may have upset the politically correct brigade at this delicate time.

Seeing Clarkson on form and then watching this week's tired Top Gear made me realise that the show lost its soul when he left. Love him or hate him, JC is a comic genius. And he knows a thing or two about motors.

I thought the program was a couple of years old. Pre S2000 I think

Top comment "Just imagine how many volts you'd have to pass through your private parts to make you buy one".

It certainly sounds like a program that a friend sent to me on video a year or so back, I think you are probably right, I think it was made pre-S2000 or at least very early on in its life....

Someone recently posted a link to a newspaper article where Clarkson had been asked for his recommendations on vehicles in all categories.

On open topped roadsters he said something like:-

"If you're not spending upwards of 60 grand,....... buy a Honda S2000, ....end of Story"
