Classic dealer comment....
Ok, i was up visiting a friend at the weekend and thought i'd make a visit to the local Honda dealership to see what they had in.
As soon as i pull up i spy a brand spanking new Silverstone GT - very nice indeed. Inside the showroom they had a (not so lovely IMHO) indy yellow - first in-the-flesh i'd seen - and certainly not for me.
Salesman comes over and starts the chat.....
Gives me all the usual bullsh*t about the 2002 model - flared arches and all that!He then comes out to look at mine cos he hasn't seen many black/reds before. Spots the F1s on all four wheels and promptly says "you do know they invalidate your insurance don't you" !!! i was left pretty speechless by the sheer cheek of him to say such a thing!
Anyway, he reckoned that someone from that dealership had crashed his s2k and because he didn't have "honda approved" tires on it they refused to pay out......i questioned him as to why, in the insurance industries eyes, the s2k would 1) be different to any other honda and 2) be different to any other car on the road!!!! I said that surely the whole market for aftermarket tires would dry up if such a thing occured....to which he muttered some other nonense......
He'd probably read some Honda crap about it being near-suicidal to put any other tires on the car.....
Oh well, i think they're great....along with many other people on this board!

Whilst investigating Eagle F1s I came across a site (www.tirerack.com) where the review for these wasn't particulalry good for ride and tread wear.

Some dealers really do not know the products they are selling. I recently had a dealer inform me that the S2000GT model had an extra 20bhp. Needless to say I have nor ordered my car from him...
I have F1's and i have posted quite a lot on this subject. In the dry i find them better than the SO2's which never gave me any confidence (but i have had my suspension re-done at the same time so i really cant say which is which from a benefit point of view.
In the wet the car is a heck of a lot better not at all twitchy. I know there are probably good reasons for the SO2 compound etc but i really didnt like them. For the style of driving i do the F1's are a revelation.
As for the insurance companies... they should be happy i have massivly reduced the likelyhood of making a claim as a result of a spin in the wet!
