Thumbs up Cleaning the Engine Bay

Is is worth cleaning the engine bay really.... I would love a clean engine bay but would the possible problems caused by water ingress out way any possible benefits of cleaning the engine?

If its worth doing, whats best to use to clean it?

The car is on 90k miles and is 6 years old and as far as I can tell has never had an engine clean... its filthy.

Use an all purpose cleaner which you can spray on a cold engine bay and wipe with a cheap microfiber cloth, then rinse it down with a little water and dry with another cloth, just be careful to avoid the electrics and not jiggle them too much. Dress with either 303 Protectant or Poorboys natural look dressing.

Water ingress really should NOT be a problem as your engine bay is exposed to quite a bit of water normally (from below and in front.

If it's never been done it'll take a couple of hours of patient work.

If you want to clean the engine bay, you have too much time on your hands. Go out and drive the damn thing!

Clean engine bay will help you spot any leakes and it makes it easier to work on. Not a great deal of effort TBH and it helps you spot anything that might not be right.
