Default Close to buying but some quick advice

Hey all
I have my eye on two S2000's a silver GT 2003 with 60k on the clock at £6000

And

A black 2004 GT with 42k at £10,000

Obviously a HUGE difference in price but I have been told this is due to the revisions and colours and that moon rock and black command the most money

Will I really notice the revisions that much to the tune of £4k difference?

Which would you choose

Strangely the S2000 seem to either be £5000 - £7000 or £9500 + nothing in-between!

Thanks again to you all, I'm almost an owner!

I'd say it depends on condition/service history/mods etc, but generally, all things being roughly equal i'd buy the cheaper car and have the 4k there for servicing/repairs etc.

At the end of the day, it's a 7yr old car vs a 9yr old car. Pot luck which will be most reliable. More likely the newer car will be better, but £4k better? Not for me.

My maths is out! But you get my point. The old cars aren't dangerous, it's just the newer cars are slightly more refined, suspension wise. I have a 1999 and drive it every day, rain, sun or snow. I'd look to why there is such a price difference. Maybe it's a stunning 04, and a ropey 03?

You'll notice the cosmetic revisions, otherwise in day to day driving you won't notice anything.

The 04 should be less thirsty on oil so there is less chance of it having been run low.

Moonrock/black is not a premium combination. Its a fairly basic colour match. Sounds like a sales pitch to me.

Given the choice, i'd go for the 04. However, i sold my 06 Moonrock/red-black with 40k miles for only 2k more. So 10k for an 04 is steep!

seller bs

moonrock and black would be one of the least desirable combinations

and if you blindfolded most drivers

they wouldn't be able to tell the driving difference between any of the model revisions

What do you base that opinion on?

Just wondering as that would be my first choice colour combo.

I would also disagree with the oil consumption comment. My MY00 with 124k miles on hardly uses any if I pick the right grade and manufacturer.

The 2003 is in very good condition 60k full Honda service history comes with the stand, torr cover and cover

Bridgestones tyres and the owner did a driving day with the s2k club

Looks like a nice car, just worried the gear box will be weak due to having the brass syncros and the suspension revisions not being there

The 2004 owner will not move on the price, if he moved to £8000 if buy his!

Only thing is the 2003 owner says there is some graining on the tyres from the track day

I'm reading it as Moonrock Grey cars and Black cars command the most money, not a combination of Moonrock paint and black leather. I may be wrong. Black's by far the best colour though! Especially if it has black and red leather!

And, for what it's worth, I think £10k for an 04 with 42k on the clock is steep too. I would have said more like £9,250 or in that bracket.
