Default Clunk

I noticed at the weekend, a clunk when I reversed - tellingly this only happened when I parts of the car were wet - after cleaning.
It happened again this morning (dew on the car). Seems to be when reversing and turning at the same time and is one clunk, then (possibly) a wheel rotation later, another clunk etc. Coming from the left side of the car but this morning I was turning left.

Nothing when going forward at the same speed.

Has anyone else had a similar problem - I didn't have chance to investigate as I had to get to work and I was on my own. By the time I got to work and tried t again in the car park nothing was happening.

If it was directly after starting up, it's just the brakes releasing from the disks I believe. Mine does it after washing as I guess they rust on for a brief period.

I had this when one of my calipers started sticking.

Mine does it sometimes too. I put it down to calipers sticking.

Or hub-nuts? I stole that one from a recent thread on a similar subject. Not sure if it's the same symptom or not.

Hub nuts are more of a clicking sound.

Slowly move forward then back, forward back etc. and if it clicks each time you change direction it's the nuts.

Sounds like the callipers though.

Hmm, could be calipers. Just had new caliper pins for the second time in 6 weeks. It's definitely when damp and just after starting up.

Does it cluck just the once then all is fine after? Can you replicate the problem by going forward instead of reverse? If yes, then sounds like your pads are stuck to your disc and the noise is them releasing.

It's only on reversing and it's one clunk per wheel rotation.(at a guess)

It sounds like the rust is sticking the pads to the discs after washing. I generally drive the car down the road and dab the brakes a couple of times, it's fine after that.

I also notice it a lot if it's been raining hard overnight, If the rain gets on the discs they rust and cause the pads to stick to the disc, also happens on the CTR.

I don't think it's anything to worry about, but for peace of mind i'd just call the dealer and ask to speak to an engineer.

1 clunk and that is it, or more than one clunk if the wheel rotates more than once?
