Default Clutch?

OK new one to me, just comming home from the hospital in the car and it was a struggle to get into 6th gear, then 4,5 and 6th.

When i got home and the car was stationary i depressed the clutch pedal and there was a strange noise if i tried to put it in any gear (no crunching or grinding just a noise)

No smells or slipping in any gear and its just suddenly started.

Is it the clutch?

Where is cheapest to get one from and do i need the full kit or just the friction plate? And rough esitmate on cost?

Is hardtopguy still M.I.A or is he back to normal buisness now?

first check or change the clutch fluid - clutch will be around £900 all in ... get ready to bend over.. but check the cheap stuf 1st !

it sounds more like something else than the clutch. go with a fluid change first.

if you need it, i had mine done with an aftermarket clutch...
£500 all in.

£260 for the clutch kit (4 peice... make sure you get friction, & pressure plates, pilot bearing, and release bearing), and another £200 fitment..

Check the free stuff first...

This is what mine turned out to be. 2 bolts had come totally out and a 3rd vibrated loose.

Its very much like a failed thrust bearing to me.
Once they are totally shot they often separate and the whole thing spins.

Agree with m1bjr, sounds quite feasable.

Veehexx where was the clutch kit from for that price? (was it the 2nd gen' less noisey clutch)

m1bjr if it is the bearing, does the whole clutch kit need replacing?

Yes, because when something else clutch related fails, you'll kick yourself for not getting it done when the gearbox was out

About 91000 Neil.

Ive took it to my local indy and he has gave me the number of a gearbox guy he uses. Ringing him tomorrow as my local indy wasnt sure what it was.

*New symptom/noise

Very notchy/stiff in all gears now and if i drive along in any gear then press the clutch all the way in and coast like that, there is a noise similar to if you brushed your hand across the dashboard ( Just tyring to give an idea of the noise)
