Default clutch gone?

Any help would be appreciated, driving the s and the clutch went completely, had to have it recovered. The clutch is less than 5k old and it has just had both master and slave cylinders done. There are no leaks but and the pedal feels normal aside from a pulsing when bringing it back up. It just doesn't disengage from fly and revs don't drop. Does it sound like a release bearing to anyone?

Cheers for any feedback

If, when stopped and engine off you can shift through the gears, but with the engine on, you can't, then the drive isn't being disengaged via the clutch.

The checks, I would do:

(without the stripping the transmission)

1. Clutch hydraulics - do they successfully actuate the release lever in the clutch. (this can be done simply by inspecting the bottom of the car)
2. Release lever - is it still in its housing/holder?

Other than that you're onto a removal of the gearbox. Not releasing could be a few things, such as fatigued fingers on the PP, release bearing failure, FP stuck on splines, etc.

Yes when the engine is not running all gears can be selected - the clutch just doesn't disengage. The pedal is still there and the amount of travel is normal - theres just a judder to it when depressed.

From what you say I am hoping it is scenario 1 or 2 so that the gearbox doesn't have to be dropped!

Many thanks for your input!

The judder would be from the clutch dragging - the FP on the flywheel or the PP on the FP. Either way, it's not right

TBH, it sounds like you'll have to drop the transmission.

Warranty was 12 months manufactures only and clutch was purchased in Aug 2012 so no such luck. I have spoken with the supplier about it and they have offered goodwill on a replacement. It the age old thing of using an after-market part rather than oem i think - the garage have said that there are pieces of friction plate falling out of the bell-housing as they are removing it. It may just need a replacement FP - waiting to find out now.

Verdict is - friction plate disintegrated and welded itself to the spline. Full new clutch kit required - genuine Honda kit sourced @ £335 with free next day delivery (thanks Cox Hondaparts) £260 labour - car ready this aft - good timing for weekend!

No it was a pattern part, however when it was first installed the mech commented that it looked good quality - obviously it wasn't the case! It was one of the ebay offers from a parts co in Dewsbury West Yorks - they are still for sale for £200. To be fair to them they did offer me goodwill towards a replacement but at that price and considering what has happened i would have zero confidence in it!
