well after seeing peoples clutches lasting 80k + i would say no but there is a nasty buzz on deceleration but I can live with it.

I guess i don't need one yet

if you dont have more power than stock i would stick with oem, nothing is free an upgraded clutch is better in some way, it grips more, it lasts longer?
not sure what you gain but its at a loss from something else, either they dont last as long or they knock crap out of the drive train or wear the flywheel out
worst mod i ever did was change my clutch, it was slipping and needed upgrading due to the SC but it has made the car noisy on overun and not the easiest thing to drive in traffic, if you must go upgrade take a drive in a car fitted with the kit you intend buying, i paid £450 for the clutch and £300 to fit it and will probably change it next year it pisses me off so much. It might be me being fussy but if i had tested this kit in another car i would not have gone for it
i wont say what the kit is in public as the supplier has been very good even changed the clutch for a second one but its still not right for me
PM me if you want to know

thanks for the heads up on the release bearing...
if i were to purchase a 'kit' i'd of expected it to be include - i'll have to confirm this.

a 'kit' to me is friction plate, pressure plate and bearing.
obviously this varies!

i'll ring around the local parts places soon - see what stuff like blueprint, LUK and lucas are priced like.

i did not have it before the clutch change and i would never say the noise i have is normal, sounds like a spitfire (the plane not the car) on overrun (the car not the plane)

Don't think I'll miss that racket when I finally get mine done! Sounds like a right bag of nails.....

Put up with it for the 5 years or so since I've had it though!

I can never understand why the first owner never got it sorted under warranty - always been heavy pedal and some play at the top too. Surely he noticed?!

Yes...and the pilot bearing...and the rear crank oil seal. If it we me doing the job, I'd do whatever is accessible at the time...wouldn't want to drop the gearbox again in the near future.

Preventative maintenance is good
i missed this first time around.... pilot bearing?

so far my pricing is as follows:
exedy do OE-spec one for £310, 2 parts (friction & pressure plates)
+£130 for release bearing (seems to be about the cheapest)
