Default Clutch Slip

Hi.

I gave it some beans the other day and got a fair amount of clutch slip. To be fair i think it was my fault, i properly got the burnt cabbage smell!! (i think i've heard it described as that before) Anyway, it was most certainly the clutch. I've done the usual tests; steep incline, in first, clutch ingaged, full acceleration - no slip.

Anyway, since then, i've noticed that the biting point was changed. It feels higher than it used to be. I know you can get sensitive to the slightest of changes and it may have only moved slightly, but it 'feels' alot more.

I dont think the clutch is on the way out, but i'm not confident on high rev standing starts. Should i be?!?!?

Cheers,

James

Hi james,

Alot of people on hear dont like the idea of a full beans start. Strange aye.

Reason being the clutch. Ive think there is a delay valve iusse also, but im not to sure about it. (lets the clutch up slower from what i can gather, but it can be removed to improve standing starts)

In order to get a good start without slip side stepping the clutch is a must. allow your foot to rest on the very edge of the clutch then slide it to the side. should make a big difference, but still very tricky to master

No need to do that, its very harsh on the car and you loose all control of the clutch / biting point, you should be able to lift your foot off the clutch fast enough to light the wheels

We all do that at first; it's very easy to light up the clutch instead of the back wheels.

Violent starts are bad for the driveline & are fairly pointless.

The car goes to 9K in first, so soon catches itself up if you're more considerate from the off.
