Default Coilover spring length and poundage

Hey all - about to replace my OE shocks with some coilovers. Car is for road use only, so dont want any springs that are too high a poundage...

What is a good compromise? I dont want to lose my teeth!

Cheers

There are some rates on the site from over the years somewhere, but can't remember the thread.

BTW you have coilovers as standard.

Mine are 10kg springs and are not noticeably different from the standard ones

10kg front and rear?

And OK Mr Pedantic - I am swapping my fixed platform struts for some adjustable alternatives! ;-)

Technically they're not struts.

Standards have something like 3-4 Kilogramage. So 10 Kilogramages is quite a lot more.

Thanks Lovegroova - but I cant really see any reference to aftermarket spring poundage...

I did find the OE poundage fr and rear - 245/311

But cant see how that translates to Kilogramage?

Google is your friend:
1 pound / inch = 0.0178579673 kilograms / millimetre

Most aftermarket springs are around 10kg/mm or 560 lb/inch.

Ahhh OK I am with you, I didnt realise it was as simple as that !

So 'most' aftermarket suppliers will (I guess) supply 4 springs of the same stiffness unless specified? Looking at the OE figures - surely I should get stiffer rears?
