Default Cold Starts

I just wanted to say thanks to the person who posted the thread recently about a low battery setting off the alarm when starting the car. I hadn't put 2+2 together on this one so this was a great help. Incidentally when I went to my local dealer with the problem of the alarm going off earlier in the year they didn't suggest a low battery!

I also have the problem with the starter motor sticking sometimes on a cold start, and was wondering if anyone has had any more serious problems in this department??

I'm using my car infrequently at the moment so I guess I'll suffer all the problems associated with cold starts!

IME, you will get three weeks to a month off a fully charged battery.

The Porker has had real problems with a flat battery and not holding a charge since the weather got colder.

Solution? A battery trickle charger/conditioner. Google CTEK 3600. Job done.

I bought a Tronic T4X from Lidl for a tenner which does the same job as that Ctek jobbie and looks suspiciously similar.

Mind you i'm sure the Porker boys wouldn't be seen anywhere near the vicinity of a Lidl outlet

I've been known to venture into Aldi on occasion but I draw the line at Lidl!

If the Tronic one you mention is both a charger and a conditioner (i.e. it will charge a battery from dead, rather than just being used to keep it topped up once charged) then it's bargain at a tenner.

Rog, the Accumate one in the first of your links (I couldn't access the second one - blocked by the work filter) was the other one I considered but it seems to require a certain level of charge in the battery to begin with whereas the CTEK one would charge from dead. Only a tenner difference so I went for the CTEK one.
