Default Comtech SC scam

This has probably been posted elsewhere so I apologise, but there appear to be a spate of Comtech SC's for sale on both Gumtree and recently on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Full-Vortech-Superch...=item1c0da86e5d

I was concerned about the ebay SC after writing to the seller and offering to pay/collect if I won the auction. The seller didn't respond so I reported the listing the ebay as suspected fraudulent. Ebay acknowledged my report but didn't pull the ad

As you can see from the seller's feedback the auction was indeed a scam. I just hope the buyer used paypal to pay and so should get a 100% refund, paypal lose out and future fees go up.

The one of Gumtree was equally dodgy as when I contacted the seller he said he was based in the Orkney Isles - I still offered to pick it up but it he went quiet on me.

I guess the old adage applies; if it's too good to be true it often is.

Paypal is insured to what ever value is still in the other persons paypal account.. if they've withdrawn it, bye bye money

Better to use Credit Card to pay on PayPal

With paypal you are now insured for the total amount of the spend. Paypal will try to reclaim the money from the seller or take the hit themselves. They've had to fall into line like credit card companies and the like.
