Default Constant whine from gearbox?

Hi,

I seem to have a constant whine from what i think is the gearbox. does not seem effect the way the box is working gear changes are all good etc not changed the fluid and not really sure when it was last done. If I put the car in neutral when moving the noise remains its a constant pitch and is always there.

Found a video on youtube with the exact noise

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1YMcmJGNxc

Anyone any ideas??

I know there has been loads of threads on this but as i found a video with the exact sound thought it was worth a shot.

Thanks

Chris

Agree on the diff - but you removed the rear shelf and the sound proofing - you're now sat in a biscuit tin with mechanical noisy stuff bolted to it and that will amplify any sounds and make them worse.

When was the diff fluid last changed?

Another for diff and I agree with the above - removing sound deadening / trim will make the diff sound even louder

When was the diff fluid last changed?
Thanks for the response,

Don't actually know when the diff oil was last changed by the looks of the service records 2011.

Will get it Changed when I get access to my tools, problem is they are 250 miles away might change the gearbox oil at the same time.

Thanks

Chris
