I've got a VR6 Golf and I hate it! The floorpan(think?) and engine is the same as the Corrado.
The S hasn't arrived yet, but I would hope and think the S will leave it standing(In the dry), it's easy to drive fast in the wet though. It's ok on the Motorway, but the handling of the Golf is crap and I moan every time I have to driver it. I take my white van if I'm going in 30-40 zones and the golf if it's a bit motorway work.

The 2.8 V6 does sound good at 6500rpm
Any use to ya?

I've got one!

FAR FAR better than the Golf(ask any reviewer, motoring expert or someone who's driven the both of them), it's not based on the Golf or the Passat, rather a combination of the two and it works!

0-60 in about 6.5

The S is faster though! I can vouch for that! Mind you at high motorway speeds the VR6 really does keep going so be careful on them motorways

It's FWD (and very good at it too, it is known as one of THE best FWD cars) and more luxurious and comfier than the S(mine had electric everything and beige leather etc.). I want RWD though so I bought the S and currently have the VR6 for sale.

Hmmmm, would a Fiat Coupe Turbo be a similarly priced but more challenging beast? I know its front wheel drive and the engine is supposedly not the smothest, but it is rapid!

Come on Guys!

To clear a few points up...

Although the Golf and the Corrado share a few things, the Corrado was designed to do exactly what it says on the tin (highly technical aren't I) so it handles much better than the Golf and has a better power to weight ratio.

The VR6 engine is sweet and pulls well at low revs coupled with a short gear change it just keeps going and going. 190bhp and top speed of 144mph. God I loved that car!!

Mind you, the S will undoubtably beat it, although not sure if it would if the VR6 was chipped as this makes it into one mean mother!!

I can ony agree with you. Had a (chipped) VR6 for over eight years and loved evry minute of it - previously had a 16V Corrado.
Long drives of over 18-hours, stopping only for fuel and leaks, were a joy - Windlesham to Slovakia at an average speed of 96.7mph. Sorry, but after only 6-hours in the S2k, I was totally knackered!
What's more, it handled well in snow at speeds, had a good trip computer, a 70-litre tank and you could sleep and have sex in it . Cue response from CC!

Another Corrado VR6 owner signing in.

I currently have one of the last Corrado VR6 Storms made. I bought the car last October as a temporary financial solution after a couple of Scoobies. I selling the Corrado and getting my 1st S2000 in April now that my other half has finished redecorating and furnishing the entire house!!

I had always fancied a VR6 Corrado which is 2.9L compared to the Golf 2.8 and have certainly not been disappointed. The engine is a gem and the noise is wonderful especially with the full Magnex SS system installed by the previous keeper.

If anybody knows of anyone wanting to own a piece of automotive history then please make them aware that my car will be available from the end of March.

Mystic Blue VW Corrado VR6 Storm
2 Owners from new
Full stamped VAG service history (last Sept. 02 with MOT)
96,000 Miles
New tyres at 95,500 miles
Diavia Air Conditioning
Heated Black Leather
All original panels & paintwork (main reason I bought the car)

I'm looking for

I saw a Storm the other day and I did love the look of the front, all those integrated lights and the electric spoiler is a nice touch

Yeh, looked nice, but was a bitch if you got a cracked fog-lamp lens. You had to buy the complete housing into which both fog and turn-indicator mount.
Incidentially, I still have one or two Corrado headlight lenses if somebody wants them.
