Could these figures be correct?

After speaking to many people on here regarding power gains, (especially on a catback system), i was under the impression that the only way to get real gains is to go FI.

I read this article and was very suprised of the gains.

Here

TBH Gaining that amount of WHP just from these mods isn't too bad at all imo.

They sound realistic to me but then others may argue that they don't

IIRC you could probably get that gain just from the AEM EMS. SimonPrelude got some big gains putting one on an NA car.

However you would need to get someone to set it up for you (Mase) and that costs

Tuning an N/A car is never worth the money for the power gains you get. I dont have much experience tuning S2k's but from my experience from civic's the best mods are good breathing mods:

Induction kit (J's racing) with Cold air feed
De-cat
Manifold
Full S/S system if funds permit

Ive always fancied going down an NA tuning route with some good old chassis mods. I would consider the mods discussed as they appear to be straight forward bolt on mods. The AEM ECU might take alot more work, but i like the stragiht forward approach. i want about 30bhp. Why...dont ask

Does having an AEM ECU mean tuning is required regularly or can it be done once. Will those mods effect MOT's as i dont really want to put something on if i have to take it off again in the future.

Would also be interesting if the increases stated would remain if a combination of the mods was carried out. IE. if the exhuast give +5 and the manifold +5 does that mean together you should get 8 or 10 or even more

If you have a custom mapped ECU (like AEM) then you make a major change to something like cams you will need to get the map re-done. If you change to something like a single exit exhaust it still may run lean.

Cost versus reward just isn't there on the S2000.

Mods don't really always work by adding 5 bhp in blocks for each part, but they do work better together.

ive read alot about not tuning the S, unless you go FI. But i like to do things the very expensive wrong way!!

id love to mod but im put off by S2K. dont really want to start riping out the dash for an ECU etc. Just want it to be stanard looking inside and out with about 30 more BHP. oh and a nice rasp on the exhast. and C of G full treatment.

are you considering any mods mark??

The ECU sits behind the panel next to your passengers left foot. It takes less than a minute to remove this panel.

It is pretty straight forward.

An ECU may be the way to go then.....

Now which one??

Oh great. Does it plug straight in or do you have to start rewiring things??

I was under the impression that the dash (speedo etc.) wouldnt work.

If that not the case then it sounds alot more appealing. Just finding a tuner i guess
