Default Couldnt Shake it!

Last night me and my mate were simply havin a nice drive with the roof off when a car flew up behind me which turned out to be a Civic Type R.

I do like to play so i thought id let him go past and then see how how well he does against the S. I noticed it wasnt std though from the sound of his VTECH he had an induction kit and i could see he had an aftermarket exhaust.

I was just about keeping up with him, now im not David Coulthard or anythin but i think i can drive pretty well so when he was keepin up with me and i was with him but had no power to pass him i was very shocked.

Ive raced std ones and had no problem after 2nd in pulling past em.

Anyone had any similar experiences??

Be careful, there are a LOT of F/I CTR's out there.

A few mod's and an after market ECU will take a CTR above an S2000 though.

never had a similar experience but ctr's do lend themself to power mods much more than the s2000 so it isn't that surprising.

airboxes, ecu upgrades, exhausts & manifold all give much better gains when added to a ctr - so there will be a few out there that will surprise the unwary S2K driver.

we've obviously had ctr vs S2K chat on here loads of times and the general consensus is that they are both great cars (i used to have a ctr)

Ye they are both awesome cars, just wondered about the mods and bhp gains as my S is standard at the mo.

Would like to to some power gaining modifications but not sure what to do as i dont want a noisey exhaust dont mind induction noise so filter would be good.

I know there will be loads of posts o here about it but is the Muz intake really worth the money and does it give good gains cos i see lots of people have them.

the muz intake (or the original spoon sports one like wot i've got) helps the S2000 to breathe the way it should have breathed from the factory - it also helps to do away with (but doesn't 100% cure) heatsoak in heavy traffic.

i've had a go against my mates stock S2K at crail quarter-mile a few times and i've comfortably beat him every time - whether that's down to the intake or my superior driving skills i don't know

if you want to spend mega-wonga buy a mugen, gruppe-m or j's racing intake - these ones look great (especially the gruppe-m like simonpreludes) and should give some small gain in bhp/torque - not shedloads though - need exhaust, manifold etc to feel a real benefit and again it won't be a large gain but should be noticeable.

hope that helps
