De-catting?

De-catting?
Ive done a few searches and found that you guys have mixed views on this.
I had a cat replacement pipe on my Integra and found it improved throtte response and made an improvement in the top end but because of by tanabe exhaust I was really losing back pressue soo my already torquless B18C was even worse low down

i spoke to an exhaust supplier about this last week when I ordered my HKS. He said not to bother as in his opinion the cat on the S2000 is very efficient and doesn't overly affect the air flow.
I removed the cat on my old Saxo VTS and had no end of problems with the fueling afterwards.
IMHO not worth pissing about with unless you are extremely serious about wringing out every possible BHP from this setup or you own a tuning company and can fiddle around with all the bits until it works as well as the factory settings.

You buy a do-da that fools the ECU into thinking its still there.

There were 3 De-Cat'ed cars on the dyno today ..... check out my rolling road thread.
I removed the cat a few weeks ago (after MOTing the car) and I must admit that I noticed an immediate improvement in the throttle response (are you listening Lou and Craig ).
Also worthwhile noting that the cat weighs 6k and the de-cat pipe weighs less than 1kg.
To stop the engine warning light there is a mechanical and an electrical solution ..... or you can replace the ECU as I plan to do.
One thing, getting hold of a de-cat pipe is not easy. It took me about a month to get hold of one and that was thanks to a board member that had one he did not need.

Cool. Whats one of those, dont think ive ever seen them before. Where can you get them and are they expensive?
I picked up one of these today (thanks Mark ) but I shouldn't be needing it as soon as my ECU arrives.
