Default Dead man's click?

Hi guys

went for a drive today and when I got back left the car for couple of hours. When I went out to move car and pressed start button I got nothing!!!! just a click as if the battery is dead? I bump started the car and turned the engine off and tried to start it again and hey presto it started!!!

Could the starter motor be on its way out?

Search is off so any help would be great.

Thanks

Your local tyre place will be able to test your battery for free. I'd bet it's that - same symptoms as when mine went.

Phew starter motors are bit more pricey than a new battery like

because every time you start it (by pushing) it charges the system a little and the battery seems ok.
but isnt holding a charge for a long period.
the clicking sound is likely to be the starter solenoid.

Do you only do short journeys ? this also doesnt help because the discharge from starting doesnt get topped up enough on a short drive.

I don't know why no-one's mentioned it, but I think it might be the battery.
