Default Decat fitting Solihull area

I've got a decat pipe and I'm in two minds if I want it fitted. But if I do, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a garage that would actually fit it for me. I've asked two and they've said no, as expected really.

I know the job is pretty simple and I'm pretty sure I have all the correct tools I'm just not that comfortable going under the car plus, I'm scared I'll mess it up somehow

Depending on how rusted your bolts are you might need to cut them - access isn't that great and I ended up dropping my entire system, getting an angle grinder on the case then refitting.

I can understand why garages won't fit as it's illegal for them to fit anything other than a type approved catalyst for your car.

I agree with Ben.

Speaking from experience I had to remove my whole exhaust system including Cat Converter to separate the Cat from the exhaust.

2 bolts at the front are easy as they are sprung loaded.

I was fortunate as I was replacing the exhaust anyway so it all needed to come off.

You would be best to have a friend who is comfortable wiggling around under a car to do it for you for some beer.

It is a really simple job and providing that no bolts are seized it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to remove OEM Cat and fit the decat.

Just a point of interest, if you are unhappy to fit the decat in the first instance, what are you going to do come MoT time when it will need swapping back to the OEM Cat?

I think it's because I get these little phases of wanting to do something to the car. At the mo, it's the decat because I happen to have one. But just looking at the bolts when jacked up, they do look quite rusty but without having proper access I can't gauge how bad they really are. If the decat was fitted, I don't think I'd have a problem refitting the cat for its mot providing the bolts going back on were greased so changing wouldn't be an issue.

Like I said, it's just a phase, I just want to hear how it would sound.
