Dent in hard top- options
Hi, unfortunately I accidentally dropped something on my hard top whilst it was stored in the garage, as per pic:

I was hoping I could successfully get it removed with the paintless dent removal, but this would appear to be a no go due to the location of the dent and it being by a strengthening bar I believe? Quotes for filling and spraying (which would be entire roof) are between £250 and £400. This obviously doesn't make much financial sense when the hard top is worth around £400.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I do now? To be honest, if I could get most of it out and make it hardly noticeable I'd be reasonably happy- is DIY a potential option in terms of just knocking it out with a rubber mallet? Failing that, not really sure what else to do- any repair more than a couple of hundred quid just seems a bit pointless. Has anyone had any joy with beating out panels for passable repairs? I know it won't look perfect obviously.

I had two dings in mine, right on the top. I took it to Dave Lee in Witney (07831 193999).
Sadly it couldn't be 100% knocked out using the normal methods but he was able to pull most if it using glue roads now it's only a small pin head size ding. One is slightly worse than the other.
I did ask what my options were and if I remember correctly, I think he quoted £150 ish to fill/paint and blend with the rest of the roof.

the way I see it if you don't want to pay the money for the repair (250 seems ok to me btw) you have 2 choices -
1 - live with it
2 - have a crack yourself
have a look at this guys youtube channel. you will learn pretty much everything you need to repair that from his vids

however you may not have all the repair tools and materials then factor in paint (will it be aerosol or gun and compressor) and time and the chance of cocking it up, add all that up...then sometimes its worth just paying the money and getting it done properly.

As per twibs reply. It's the cheapest and easiest option so the best place to start I'd say. See youtube clip here

The person I bought my OEM HT from had dentless removal done to two dings. It came out pretty good, not all the way, but there is a brace near the dents that didn't allow for full removal. Good luck with the repair. I've been amazed at what PDR has been able to fix.
