Default Diamond cut wheel refurb....

I had my alloys refurbed by the dealer before I bought the car last May, they came back 100% perfect.

Within 4 months I noticed a tiny amount of corrosion on all the wheels around the centre cap, over time this has grown and I now have at least a 3" spread running down the diamond face

I called the place (Spit & Polish, Tonbridge) they were done and they said the finish is only guaranteed for 3 months.

To me it looks like when they put the centre caps on the lacquer has come away from under the cap and it's let water in underneath. When I wash the car water gets inside the lacquer inside a bubble which I can push out.

Question is, at around 60 odd quid a wheel, is it worth me getting them redone or am I just going to see this happen again in another 4-6 months.

That sounds pretty disgusting to me, 3 months is shocking. You also need to deal with the dealer that you paid to have the wheels done. Surely you must have some kind of legal basis to challenge that? (i have no idea about that, just stinks to me)

I had mine diamond cut at spit & polish about 3 months ago. Since then, I have waxed them twice using Tango mans special wheel wax. No sign of any corrosion yet, fingers crossed.

I will keep waxing them about once a month as I am led to believe this should keep the corrosion at bay.

Mine haven't corroded due to lack of maintenance, I believe mine have gone because there has been a point of ingress for water through the centre cap as thats the point the nastyness has started.

Hindsight I should have gone back to the dealer, it's been 18 months now though so lost the chance.

The problem with diamond cutting is that you are asking the lacquer to form a bond with an unprimed alloy surface....which it won't
