I have the same problem. Clunking while accelerating in all gears and mph. I just drained the diff, but i dont see any metal. I've also check the axles and they look fine. im confused.

The problem with my car was the CV joint in the offside drivesahft, as I originally thought.

The dealer insisted the problem was the diff, so I had another one fitted (from a breakers) but it didn't cure the vibration. I then got them to fit a pair of drive shafts - problem fixed. (original diff still for sale...)

One thing I didn't realise was that my car had been lowered by the first owner and this apparently causes the CVs to wear more.

This thread is so old I've changed my car now and this one isn't lowered!

I'm getting a slight clunk from the rear when letting out the clutch to move forward. I only hear it with the top down and when doing stop-start heavy traffic type manouvers.

I think Hyper has drive shaft spacers.
