Default Dixcel brakes installed, problems

Hello all,

I had my new Dixcel Brakes and pads fitted yesterday but there seems to be a problem with the rears and there are two symptoms.

1) After a bit of a drive, if I then reverse, there is a loud creak from the rear
2) Suspecting something was up, I just drove for a few minutes without touching the brakes. The result was that both rear discs were hot, but both fronts were stone cold.

I can't believe that both capilers are sticking and therefore the mechanic has done something wrong. any help or advice warmly received, thanks.

He hasn't adjusted the handbrake to compensate.

Thanks Ron, that makes sense. Will driving around (limted miles) cause any major damage/further problems until I can get it sorted?

Thanks again, I actually drove a reasonable distance at motorway speeds and it seemed ok but I'll get it sorted ASAP.

All very irritating...

On a side note, the Dixcels work very well indeed, although a bit more pressure is required for the first couple of brakings.

You don't need to adjust the handbrake.

It's possible the nipples (not sure if that's the right word) on the pads haven't been properly aligned with the cross on the caliper, and that would make them drag.

I concur. You need to adjust the handbrake when changing pads/discs.

It seems that it is the handbrake, especially as the problem affects both rear wheels, I guess it's unlikely that the pad alignment would be wrong on both sides.

Thanks for the advice all.
