Default Dixcel Brakes reviews

This week I got some new brake disks and pads and I was getting sick of warping my front disks. I decided that I needed a complete solution as a mismatch between front and rear couldn't be ruled out as the root cause. I've run lots of different pads, OEM, Porterfield R4S, Pagid RS29 and Ferodo DS2500 as well as various makes of brake disk.

So from Japan through Dixon (Proracer) I got hold of

Slotted front disks
Type Z front pads
Rear Plain disks
Rear R01 Carbon pads

The R01 pads are a stronger pad than the Type Z as when the fronts fade the rear gets hammered so it was worth beefing them up.

After some parts coming a day late due to DHL being crap, I finally fitted them this morning at Donington. They bedded in quickly and after a day of running them hard, whilst I can get a bit of fade (not too bad), my disks aren't warped. And the stopping power is amazing. I had several comments today as to how good they were from passengers.

The only real downside is they're a bit grumbly, probably due to the slotted front disks. Overall, if you're hard on brakes, they seem to be the real deal.

Thing is, I'm not sure if that was a special price, but Proracer will be able to set the price. It's

I like the DBA ones in that i did rockingham with ds2500's all round, OEM discs at the rear and DBA 4000 series discs at the front.

Mine didn't warp either, though the heat paint on them indicated that they technically overheated. According to DBA, i should try some higher coefficent of friction pads to reduce the disc temperature, but that means going over to pads that are more race orientated and not really suitable for road use as well as trackday. They can also be more aggressive to the lacquer on your wheels.

That's pretty much where my development stopped because the last two trackdays have been in BatCats.

It says the R01s operating temperature is 200-900C, so maybe not so great for use on the road.
