Hi Gadafi, I'm glad you got prices for the catcher plates ok. The front latches look identical but the h/t ones are steel vs alloy for the standard softtop ones. Other bits you would need are some small trim components either side to alter the softtop mechanism 'brushes' and alloy the h/t spikes access to the catcher plates.

Hope you get sorted OK,

Tif

Thanks for your reply.

I'm still a bit confused about the latches. Are these 'new' ones that attach to the car windscreen and then continue to be used ad infinitum, whether you are using the hard or soft top? That would suggest the OE parts are binnable/saleable/stuffable in back of garage.

These alternative 'brush' trims. Could the existing not be suitably modded with a sharp knife? I'm all in favour of originality but this bit is almost completely hidden from view.

So, if I modify/replace the brushes and fit the latches and catcher plates, the top should just require fine tuning?

Yep, thats about it. The original latches can be binned and you could just get rid of the brushes entirely if you wanted (they just screw to the big trim panels). Aside from that you would need a loom to connect the hardtop demister elements to the existing softtop one. Gods knows how much that'd be

Cheers Tif

I may just dispense with the brushes or certainly attempt a DIY mod. Thinking about it, I could just remove them when the hardtop goes on and put them back on in the spring.

My hardtop has a length of wire emerging, with a multi connector on the end. I was hoping this would connect to a convenient piece of wire down the back of the seats somewhere! We shall see.

Also, I gather one catcher assembly is only sold with a piece of wiring (makes it about

The catcher assy with the wire is there to stop the top mechanism from working when the hard top is fitted. The wire from the top fits into a socket that is built in to the left rear panel for the demister to work. Check out the parts list on the HandA site and it should become clear.

I have just received a quotation from Marshall Honda (Peterborough) for the supply and fit of hardtop at £2,722.30. Exclusive of the stand and cover.

That's outrageous! The purchase price difference of a GT over a non GT when new was only £500. So how Honda can justify this beggars belief.

Can't believe I've just posted on an eight year old thread!
