Do I go or not?
The snow isn't really deep but it has frozen overnight, and my road is extremely steep with a brick wall on one side.
I can see where other cars have wheel spun up the hill - squiggly tyre tracks and compacted snow/ice underneath.
I'd have 2 hills like that, both ungritted/salted, plus 2 big hills in wycombe and apparantly the gritters haven't been out, before I hit the motorway.
And I have a really important training course at work starting at 9 (willbe late by now anyway) - what do you reckon?
I haven't driven the S in ice or snow yet, and I'm sure the motorway will be fine, but it's these 2 bugger steep hills outside mydoor I am worried about!
Thoughts.....
(plus bed & wireless are nice and warm!)

if you can, stay at home
or just try going really really slow up them in 2nd gear-I wouldn't go for a run up cos of the danger of carrying too much speed
I hear that sticking as few heavy items in the boot may help traction

TBH I wouldn't risk it - on SO2s if normal cars are having problems, your's will be worse. You may well end up getting stuck.
Weight may help a little, but a slippy surface is a slippy surface.

It's an 04 so different tyres, and apparantly the main roads are fine; but so far i am still in bed
and the snow is still coming down.
It really is a steep hill - the S only just makes it down without scraping the front lip (no spoiler), and my exes CupraR scraped every time it came down. The dustmen can't even get down it without taking chunks out of the concrete - and no salt/grit.
I reckon I am gonna stay here - also, don't want to risk getting stuck at work and not getting home.
Just thankful I have hot water now!

I would risk this in a FWD car as the spinning doesn't have a massive effect.
I am assuming that if my rear wheels sstart to spin in the S, that my back end will try to overtake me as the spinning won't be even on both sides. And that the LSD might not help if one wheel gets traction, then the other one does suddenly?
Or is it by reading all the prangs on here I have got overly paranoid about th car in snow?

The car tends to crab sideways once the rears start spinning. Beardie (in an 04) got stuck on hard packed snow on an incline on sunday while on a meet with me. Car slid gently onto verge, and it took half an hour to dig him out
