Decat isn't worth doing on a stock car.

Are they sure it's the cat and not the clutch vibrating? You've got an early model so it could be a possibilty.

Definately a breaker part IMO. I doubt you'll find a real aftermarket one unless you shell out on a race cat perhaps? but that'll be pointless on it's own as Mike said..

What does it sound like and when does it make the noise?

It sounds like a chattering and seems to appear inbetween 1000-2000RPM, also just before 4000RPM. What other performance parts would be required to make a Decat pipe worth having?

The car has a cold air feed for the intake and a K&N replacement filter at the moment

Anyone recommend any breakers yards?

Thanks for the replies

The cars not under warranty which is annoying. I thought it was the clutch at first but revved it whilst out of gear and the same noise appreared? I read in a previous post this was the best method to test (an in gear rev, and out of gear rev)

So the guy at honda slough has quoted me

I would check yourself.

There is a heat shield on top of the cat (obviously!) and the welds break due to vibration/corrosion.

If the gases are OK, just stay in VTEC at all times!

Thanks for the repies, I shall go with option no.3 then if it is as honda said no.7

Can someone please explain why decatting on a standard car is useless? Ive had a few people say this but nothing to back up what their saying? Im happy to buy a CAI to compliment it if the need be. Are they trying to say decatting on a stock exhaust is pointless? I was also thinking of removing the 1st silencer when getting the decat pipe made up.

What power increases can be expected from a decat pipe and replacement filter?

Im sure my problem above is the heat shield but TBH I have contemplated decatting before so any info on the above questions would be great

Thanks
