Default Does a grill have much effect on air flow?

I'm trying to narrow down a problem with my S2K being a hesitant and lagging a little after its been running a while. Basically accelerating in 1st/2nd I sometimes experience a delay I'd say about 0.5/1.0 second(s).

I am thinking the cause is:

AEM v2
Lack of radiator plate
New custom grill

Any ideas on the most common. I've tried ye old blip of throttle with no luck. Engine temp gage is no higher than it's always been. Car has just been serviced and still doing it.

Someone said the grill causes a 16% reduction a few months ago.

Could be a red herring, so don't take it as gospel, but I removed the grille that came with my car and it stopped the issue I was getting with revs dropping silly low in slow moving traffic.. But the reason it could be a red herring is because the car was serviced at the same time...

I definately feel more comfortable with it removed though.

The AEM V2 will improve the air flow as it is taking cold air in from the outside of the engine bay as opposed to sucking in warm air from under the bonnet.

I had a Mikey grill on my car along with an AEM V2 and the grill had no adverse effect whatsoever.

Not sure what you mean by the rad plate but if it is the plate on top of the radiator that is missing this could interfere with air flow but the AEM v2 should do away with any heat soak

Have you tried a MAP whack ??

Andy

Will try that and an ECU reset later on. Is there an FAQ?

The air flow reduction will depend solely on the type of mesh you have used.
The stainless mesh I used is ~16% reduction in flow path IIRC
That said no one has shown any issue with any of the grills, certainly my superchaged car has no issue with it.
You could as eSeM though I know he has a view on it

wont make the slightest difference, yes its a 16% restriction but its 16% of an area vastly bigger than whats needed to feed the intake, look at the OEM rad cover it has a very small area to let air to the intake box.
