I wouldn't count on it, Beaky. If they want to ban him, the beaks have to have him in court. If that's what they're minded to do, they'll simply adjourn the hearing and summon him to attend at court so he can be disqualified.

3 points and a fine would be doing very well. Evading a ban would be a result - whether one is imposed depends very much on the particular bench he's in front of.

4 or 5 points and a few hundred quid fine is probably the more likely outcome - but he doesn't help his chances at all if he gives the appearance of not being sufficiently arsed to even turn up in court.

So to summerise then, turn up, bend over, go home

Note - Just to add the alleged offense was on the A500 Shavington by pass at Willaston (a 70 posted dual carriageway)

Mine was 6 points and 300 quid (brought down from 500 for a guilty plea).

I tried not turning up, they just adjourned for another date so I could go to face disqualification.

I looked contrite (not hard), scared (not hard) and vulnerable (again not hard!), apologised, stated the road conditions/car conditions/clean license/job/reason for speeding/advanced driving course etc.

I avoided a ban by the skin of my teeth (101mph on the M40), and I firmly believe it was the driving course that swung it for them.

I think your attitude on the day counts for a lot - if he can't be bothered to go weelll..... errr.... can he be bothered with the extra on the insurance (my quotes went from 900 quid -> 3.5k with a <1month ban) or get public transport for the ban period?

My paperwork stated 31mph over the speed limit = consideration for disqualification so I guess at 97 he's probably okay - 3 or 6 points probably, depending on their mood (not that I'm an expert!)

Blimey! All that and not even 30 over the limit!

Well, if it's that bad for 97, what's the point in NOT doing 150 everywhere?

Might as well use the defence of text messaging the pretty 13 year old one met outside the school gates so not looking at speedo!

Man, is this cnutry fcuked, or what!
