Default Downforce

Are there any proven BGW's (Big Gay Wing) and front bumpers that generate actual downforce without needing an expensive hardtop too?

The CR is nearly out and I know their wing bumper combo is supposed to be for aero, not for looks.

The Mugen wing works well.

Mine works fine .. can defo tell the rear is planted hard.
(but it's no "proven" .. but I was speaking to Chris @ CG about methods to test this using suspension compression at speed)

i thought the Mugen was designed to work in conjunction with the Mugen Hardtop?

It works best with the Mugen hardtop as that produces the cleanest air at the rear but this would be the case for most wings.

PJL's wing obviously provides some downforce as it bent his bootlid!

He's got a hardtop on though, which alters airflow.

Is downforce the same as drag though?

It think the HT would smooth the airflow more, so for a soft top, you need one higher (bigger and gayer) in the air flow.

Problem with a higher wing is a greater chance of bending the bootlid.

(Unless of course you have a CF bootlid ......... )
