Default 'Drivel' and Advice

Hi guys - interesting to see you having a laugh at Drivel(n) the other night. I was one of the guys in their last three 'Driven viewer reviewer competition' - didn't win the car and spent 4 days listening to Jason telling everyone how great he was. You would have seen my ugly mug for that hour.

Guys (and girls), I have a Lotus Elan SE, looking to sell it imminently and am considering an S2000, (had a Civic VTi before, v nice) what should I be spending ? There seems to be a number of them around for

Welcome to the boards Toomey.

Only last week I was stopped by a guy who works in the same office block as me. He was asking about the S2000, and up until a few months ago had run an Elan SE. He absolutely loved the car, but got hacked off with the availability (or not) of parts - his car had been off the road for 6 weeks waiting for a new water hose!

Anyhow, how much too spend.........well, never say never, but I would be suspicious of a car offered at

It was good fun, and we filmed with the guys solidly for four days over the course of two weeks, a great experience, but does make you realise that you probably wouldn't want their job, they sit around for 10 hours and drive for 10 minutes !!! Was a laugh though and interesting to meet Mike, Penny and Jason......did come away wondering if they liked themselves a bit too much though which was a shame.

It is likely that the 17k cars are early import cars from Japan. You probably would do well to steer clear from them - for piece of mind if nothing else.

If they sit around for 10 hours to do 10 minutes in-front of camera and earn what they do- I'll take it if they get bored with it.

Sam.

Sometimes. Some early gearboxes have selection problems. I'm on my second - the first was replaced as an attempt to cure the noise problem I've got. By the time it was replaced, I was having quite a bit of gear selection trouble. There are a few US boxes that have failed, but not many. I just think it's something to watch for - if the box is fine on the car, you'll probably have no problems. Just thought it worth a mention - if you buy a <
