Default Driving me nuts!

I think a few people have asked this already but I couldn't find anything in the FAQ or anything relevant from searches.

My alarm seems only too happy to go off between 2am and 5am seemingly without any cause or reason. I can understand when it's windy or if a really big truck goes past it might get set off, but last night was dead calm, nothing.

Is there any way of reducing the sensitivity of the alarm? Can I disconnect it?

I think the neighbours are mounting a revolution and it won't be long before I get a petition through the door with a compulsory selling order from the high courts...!

Help!

I'll give you 5k for the car!

Seriously, get her down to your local TOAD dealer and rip it out for a new AI606

When you arm the alarm (4 flashes) press the button again after the 4th flash and it should flash 3 more times. This turns off the internal sensors. Not ideal but better than the current situation.

Thank Neil, very generous of you

Russell, I'll give it a try tonight but I'm not sure mine is capable of that. Thanks.

Does it flash four times when you arm the car?

I am sure mine only flashes three times.

Yes, 4 times. After the 3rd flash you hear the doors lock then there is the 4th flash.

This is on my MY03.

Sounds loony, but check the car for spiders/webs. Had a Merc with exactly the same symptoms and it turned out to be a couple of tiny spiders webs near the top of the seat belts. Damn them sneaky spiders....

Hi,

I had a similar problem back in January on my S2k 2002 with the standard factory alarm. When I was away for about a month my friend looked the S2k and it frequently started to go off for no apparent reason driving my friend and his neighbours crazy. When I got back I too disarmed the internal sensors but this didn't make any difference with the alarm still going off and me having to take the battery off.

Then the immobiliser starting cutting out dangerously when driving it.

I booked into Coventry Avondale who quickly diagnosed that the main circuit board was at fault and needed replacing and they could do it there and then for

LOL, so the oversensitive sensors did your nut in as well. I quickly got into the habit of disarming them every time. I didn't even need to look I just knew the delay in my head to the 2nd press
