Dry and sunny - Roof up - Why?
It's normally beacuse they don't want the dye/set blown out of their hair.
I am increasingly of the opinion that convertables are bought out of some sort of mid-life crisis/pose value. I've seen 'em roof up on the sunniest of days.
Roadsters are bought by complete driving nutters, obviously!

Do you take a pen and paper with you for each trip so you can make notes of what your saw??
I remember years ago people used to spot trains, but I guess the hobby has taken on a whole new twist...
Even if it's dry and sunny I do tend to have the roof up for long motorway journeys. The extra wind noise, drag and creatures disturbing me while I'm driving outweigh the benefit of having it down.

I've found a solution to the roof not going down properly. Push a couple of times on the top of the rear screen (from inside), i.e. flap the material about a bit.. Seems to free it all up and it goes down with a much better success rate when cold or damp

That's a very accurate account!

Silly people if your not going to use it why buy a convertible??
I think that if people want to drive topless in the sun/rain/dark thats fine but I think going topless when the sun isnt out is just posing too much and in city driving would not be fun at all.
just as a matter of interest do advocates of all weather topless driving ever get negative comments/actions while they are at traffic lights. I know when I drive topless I do get a lot of envious/strange glances and know that lot of drivers will be probably be thinking "who is this posing twat?"

I think this is a silly question.
It's as daft as someone asking why someone puts their roof down on a cloudy day.
There are too many variables as to why the roof is up-can't be arsed is one of them.

Totaly agree with the cant be arsed scenario, I too get like that occasionally, and after all each to their own, I just think its strange
