Default Dumb question

I bought an S2000 on Saturday and will be picking it up this Friday AM, in time for a 4 day weekend in Devon.
Although it's not a big deal I can't for the life of me remember anything about the stereo head-unit.
It's a standard Jan 2001 UK car. The stereo was asking for a security code when I took the car on the test drive so I just closed the cover and forgot about it.
The thing I want to know is, is it a CD head-unit or a r/c? I have a faint recollection that I saw a slot for a casette but then I think, "surely a 2001 car isn't going to come with a radio casette".
Can someone confirm what should be fitted. That way I can plan ahead and find one of those cassette adaptor things that can plug into my iPod.
Thanks. Jon.

wow, quick response. Thanks. Although not the one I was looking for.
When will the cassette just give up and die!

So, next Q. Someone's selling a 2004 head-unit for 50 quid. Seems ideal as I don't need anything hardcore as long as it plays CDs and the radio works.

Will the 2004 unit drop straight into a 2001 car? i.e will the remote work?

My cassette is still working, I have an autochanger though, so I don't use the cass much.

I'm not sure about the 04 HU dropping straight in. I know it's a different brand (01 = BOSE, 04 = Clarion, I think!) and the cd changer cables are different so probably not.

But if you do get it sorted the dash controls will work.

Try doing a search for 04 head unit, there's plenty of threads to search through!

Just realised the easiest route is to get an FM modulator for my iPod. Not the best quality but will do for now.
Thanks for your help

I use an ipod / itrip with a standard 01 headset at the moment. It isn't to bad. With the ipod's volume set to about 60%, and the stereo set to about 25 (out of 30) its pretty loud and doesn't distort.

I can hear it well with the roof down until you hit high speeds.

Cool. I've just ordered an iTrip and car charger so I'm glad to hear it works ok. (Mind you that assumes I can find some spare airspace. London airwaves are chokka)

I'd go aftermarket, rather than a more recent stock unit.

Alpine have good solutions for ipod.
