Smile DVLA

I am soooo mad at the moment.

I was due to collect my shiney new S on Saturday but it was delayed due to the DVLA changing their procedure for cherished plates. The dealer was told to come back today to collect the documents, so they queued this morning for an hour or so just to be told "yes its in that pile to be done today, but we cannot guarantee that it will done today".

I am fairly livid, apparently there is no guarantee it will be done tomorrow either, and as its a back holiday weekend, it would become Tuesday

The DVLA used to operate a procedure where you could queue and then wait for them to do the transfer. This was changed to 48 hour turn-around and now its a minimum 7 working days... its a disgrace.

All the while I am left without my new car and no S

The new regulations for cherished plate transfers are a joke. Very inconvenient to say the least.

Just get a normal plate i.e. 06 which can be done straight away and then transfer your private plate over later on when the paper work is done. The same thing happend to me when I bought mine so I went to the DVLA and they just gave me a new reg there and then and I went and picked my car up after telling the insurance co of the new reg!

Plates are on and ready, but no tax disc

I have also let ChillyIce take my car with my cherished plate and he is waiting for his new tax disc too.

Its a farce.

I want to call the local office, but can't find a number, and not sure what it will achieve if I do.

Tax disk is applied for and will be back dated to the beginning of the month when you get it.

I have never let this stop me using a bike/car in the past.

Take the car with an 06 plate and transfer it later.

A lazy, mismanaged and disorganised government-run agency? I would never have believed it

I can't.

The car is a leased and everything has been processed and signed for with the cherished plate... more hassle than its worth to try and undo everthing... got to face the fact that I will be S-less for the bank holiday weekend.

Spoke to the DVLA myself and they have told me that the earliest it will be ready is tomorrow, but its not that likely.
