Default EBC redstuffs

Iv heard good things about them but how do they compare to stock pads with regard to brakedust? I had greenstuffs on the Cooper S and although they left next to no dust, they didnt bite very well...

The brakedust on the stock pads seems a bit excessive to me all the same

No used them on the S but have used both the Red Ceramic and Green Stuff on the Scooby. Red Ceramic are far better than they std Red's used to be and a lot better then the Green. They have more initial bite and the hotter they get the better they are. Unfortunately they don't last very long, I got about 6k max out of them and I'm not a heavy user of the brakes. They do however produce more dust than the Green's but less than most.
My suggestion depending on how hard you use the brakes wold be Ferodo DS2000 or DS2500 if you use your brakes quite hard or you could go for the expensive but excellent Pagid RS 4.2 Blue

Can somebody move this to the general section please, didnt mean to post it in here

Im really happy with the stock pads but they just puke up SO much brakedust, im looking for pads which are equal or slightly better without the need to clean the wheels so much (and last a fair while too, 6k is a bit too quick for me atomic)

Thanks for the replies guys

Just put the second set of Red Stuff on mine. First set didn't last long at all... a few k road driving and 3 Track-days. (Croft, Anglesey and Donington) May try and seek out a longer lasting pad next time - they may be relatively cheap, but there's a trade-off.

Performance-wise, they're great. They bite well from cold, and no fade at all. Dust-wise, the first few days they dusted like hell! Then I did Croft. This obviously bedded them in or something, because after that, they hardly produced any dust at all on the road. The new set are the same - wheels are black after 4 days commuting, but hopefully Bruntingthorpe will do the same trick.

Possibly too soon to comment, but the discs (new on with the first pads) seem fairly scuffed up (light scoring) after the first set, so the pads may be a bit heavy on the discs.

Anyway, I'm going to go through this second set, then make a judgement as to what suits my use best.

I refused to buy anything from EBC after buying Green stuff which were listed for the Prelude, then being told they were not good enough for a Prelude by EBC, then setting fire to Red Stuff on the same car.

Think the new ones are better though !!

yeah, apparently they've improved the new products (old green ones came away from their backing and old red ones caught fire)

even so, I went for Mintex pads - fair bit of dust, but I don't care as I like black chrome wheels on my beemer

i used to use mintex and they are (were) an excellent pad. I've got red stuff on the S at the minute as when I bought them my mintex dealer told me they didn't do anything for the S..

however, the red stuff pads have been very good.. can't comment on longevity as i don't do many miles and they've only been on a short time but they are fade free and not as dusty as stock.. i think if you hammer the car the stock pads will wear fast and dustily and can also fade which i never like. i've used the red stuff on a track day in bad weather with lots of heavy braking and they were flawless, the stock faded on the road for me..

I'm currently using the Ferodo DS2500 and am very pleased with them, a bit pricey but the performance is great and the brake dust is minimal.
