Default ECU Dead?

Further to my earlier post re alarm/immobiliser A friend asked me to do a diagnostic scan to see if any errors popped up. I ran the same ODBII reader & software we have used previously but this time it does not find the ECU - checked every fuse we can find & they all seem ok & there is power to everything.

Is it possible the ECU is the cause of all our issues?

Are these a straight forward swap or is there much faffing with recoding keys etc?

Sorry for all the questions but this car is my son's daily & he desperately needs it back on the road asap.

I think the dash green key is maybe your problem here

If you don't get the green key (on dash) I reckon obd is not live.. if needed I can test it tomorrow with mine if it helps

No green key.

I can normally run checks via OBD port & clear faults etc but today it just won’t even find the ECU.

Where are you based?

The car has a sensor near the lock which checks out your key. If you don't have the green key I don't think it will talk at all but I could be wrong

Kent/Essex border.

The car won’t even recognise either of the remote fobs anymore.

I think the alarm is dead but the steering column sensor detects the key

A mobile alarm guy could remove the alarm and fit a new one. You could try the FB groups, it's pretty dead on here

Spoke to H&P - whilst they can't help other than supply a new circuit board fro the alarm, they did confirm it's probably their system preventing the ECU communicating with anything as the immobiliser cuts power to it.
