Default Electrickery

My car is gradually getting more and more electrical faults - actually to be fair a couple were 'fixed' by Dan Dare for me

First boot release went - no button, no blipper. Analysis by Gas and a few at JAE found the problem was from the button forwards so hopefully a friendly Puppy will be coming round soon to swap out with his relay to see if this sorts it.

Then the central locking stopped working from the inside. Fine with blipper but push the drivers lock and it doesn't lock passenger

Then the interior light stopped coming on and there was no warning when lights were left on and door open (this was the bit Dan Dare sorted usheditinandoutafewtimes: as there was obviously a slightly dodgy button on the door frame )

Anyone any ideas on the door locks????

Sounds like the drivers lock button or actuator is not switching the system. Not sure how it's wired on the S, i.e. whether it's direct from the switch to the circuit or if it's through the actuator

boot bit sounds a pain, again not sure how it's wired

that doesn't help at all does it?

It's better than having no ideas Nott

I've just descovered there's an auto electrician down the road from me - although don't know anyone who's used him. So failing any other ideas I'll be off for a chat

Not at all sure how it's wired, but I've noticed in my car that if it's raining and I open the drivers window then the rain drips straight onto the door lock button ... I guess there's a chance that this could cause corrosion on the contacts and mess something up?

Looking at the drawings for you Carrie, very very odd fault.
I think the local auto guy is best option.

It suggests a failing keyless control unit really, and the boot release is also driven from that.

Can you lock the passenger door by locking the drivers door manually with a key?

Haven't tried that one S - would that imply the failure as well then?

Is this the control unit under the seat ?

Okay, could actually be a ground wire in that case, and drawing suggests that the ground wire is also common to the electric mirror and the passenger window defeat button.
Is the drivers electric mirror and the window OFF button operating?
