The s2000 time was posted for a wet surface so can't make any comparisons, probably would be as quick as a vxturbo on the topgear track.
Can't see that happening

If you're excluding the S2000 time based on the condition of the track, what was the exact condition of the track cf the VXT and M3?

It was a dry track for the m3 and vxt. The s2000 was tested in that episode with the boxter and z4, it was raining pretty bad.

I know. Was wondering how you can compare the VXT and M3 given that they were tested at different times with different conditions. I've seen them call the track dry on days that it's a bit damp

There is also the small matter of a few

Lee - Moff and I spent a day "sharing" the passenger seat on an elise (can't rember which ) on a 1st Lotus day. I couldn't live with it build quality and environment is crap. Other worries no ABS.

Don't do it
Unless you fancy a trip to Northwich to try TVRs, Elise, Exige and Nobles?

I had an S1 Elise for a year and a half before the S2k.

Crusoe's write-up is pretty spot on. Brilliant car, let down a little by bits dropping off occasionally and the inability of the roof to keep wet stuff out.

My Dad summed it up best after giving my new S2k a consistently quick (and for me in the passenger seat, galactically terrifying) run up the A303:

"The Elise felt like a go-cart, this feels like a racing car."

No I dont, but your confusion is understandable.....I have been teetering on the brink for some time now.

I am a little confused at what to do at the moment.

I covered 43000 thoroughly enjoyable miles in my S2000 between April 2001 and November 2004.

Since November last year work comitments have meant I have driven less than 300 miles in the S. My current work situation may or may not prevail medium term, so what do I do......keep the S - I love driving it and it is practical and comfortable enough for me (UK based) 50 mile commute. Or go for something a little more 'focussed' (I have finally talked myself out of an Ariel!!!!). The Exige seems like a reasonable compromise to me sat in an Oslo appartment.........
