Elise to S2000 engine conversion....is this true?
Met up with an old work colleague who mentioned a number of Elise owner's replacing their sewing machine engines with the S2000 engine!!
Does anyone know anything more about this?
BTW apologies if this has already been covered...

I agree with Franky - I have read about the CTR engine being fitted to the Elise.
The S2000 engine would be far more of a challenge being longitudinally mounted, all the drive bits and pieces (sorry for getting unnecessarily technical here!) are 90deg. out of kilter for the Elise. Methinks that this would make life tricky. Having said that, medoesntreallyhaveaclue cos I dont know diddly about this stuff!

Prototype Racing looked into fitting the F20C using a custom bell housing mating to the DC5/EP3 gearbox. (That's the gearbox off a current shape Civic Type-R or Integra Type-R).
Prototype Racing, do kits (originally for the F18C - the old Integra Type-R engine), now for the K20A.
The Exige at Autosport was from Komotech - it's been reported to at least heavily 'inspired' by the Prototype Racing kit.
Blink Motorsport, originally did a conversion using a kit from Prototype Racing kit, and were going to be UK dealers for it. When this didn't work, they developed their own kit which is what's on sale now. These are the guys who made 'Project Nutter' - a Westfield running an S2000 engine/gearbox.
There has been quite a bit of ... how to put it ... handbags ... between the people behind the different conversions. So if you're researching into this, take a bit of care. There are some very good conversions out there. There's also a lot of as well unfortunately.
The 2.0L K-Series, if it becomes available, might not be a great option. One big reason for the conversion is greater reliability for the power with a Honda engine that was designed for that power and capacity, rather than a highly tuned, stretched lower capacity. That said, the K20A isn't Honda's best or most reliable engine by a long shot.

I am just amazed they manage to stretch the K so far! Forget NVH or reliability, probably.
Does that mean the engines in EP/EU cars runs the right way round?
The previous generation had the engine opposite the driver (proper RHD!) and the lump runs backwards.
That could be an emberrasing mistake!
