I wouldn't want a car with that kind of mileage

not least because everything else will be wearing out
I'd tend to agree, but it really does depend on the way it was driven. The biggest PITA wear items are bushes, suspension and maybe the hood it seems. If someone clocked up the miles on the motorway at upto 100mph (which is about 5.5krpm?) then the engine isnt really under a great amount of stress. All the fluids are warm and suspension/bearings aren't really loaded. I agree with the issue of an abolute safety net though. Still, if you find the right car, 100k miles shouldn't be that much of a deal.

My old CRX VTEC was running beautifully after 9 years and 90k. It never missed a beat in all that time. As long as oil changes are carried out regularly, there's no reason the engines won't last for a very long time IMO.

FWIW the service interval on the CRX was 6,000/6 months, with optional oil changes every 3,000/3 months. I think the fact that I kept up the regular 6k servicing (at some considerable cost) meanth at the engine lasted extremely well, despite lots of VTEC.

I get the oil changed on my S every 4,500 miles as I reckon it will help in the long run, especially as I think I'll keep the car for a number of years yet.

Change the oil (Motul 300V/Silkolene Pro) and never boot it from cold, and there is no reason why it wont last you a long time. Dampers/bushes will go waaaay before the engine.
In addition, try and not hit the Rev limiter. It does a lot of damage compared to normal operation. I know its essential to wring out every last rev, but by changing up 1-200rpm earlier, you'll be amazed at the longevity you'll give to your engine

My S has done 46k, still drives as new, often revved to red line. So the question is what can one expect the life of the engine to be?
Also has anybody in the Uk had any experiance of engine rebuilds just out of curiosity ?

P.S. I used to be on here as Chippo when i first had the car all those years ago
Hello Chippo,

Wondered what became of you. Thought you'd got stuck in a lift, or something.

obviously that makes sense.. since piston acceleration is square function of the rpm -

I noticed that with the mugen ECU, it would let me rev higher.. 9200 compared to the JDM one which stops at 8900. However after a remap..I can get more power from less revs with the original ECU..

on the track days I normally end the music around 8400-500 since the oil temp is already soaring to 120C.
