Default Engine Management Light is on

Yesterday I removed the airbox to treat the rust forming on the beam underneath it.

When I did this, there was a sensor at the back of the airbox which I had to unscren and then unplug.

Its all been plugged back in now, but when I started the engine this morning the engine management light came on. I've checked and the connector is fitted correctly.

I drove about 70 miles this morning and it didnt turn off. Do I need to take it to Honda to have the fault codes cleared?

Is it the sensor with a black small cylinder on? ie sits on side of intake tube towards the end of the airbox?

You could reset the light, either remove the battery or fuse then see if it comes on again?

Thats the one Ajs. Top right rear of the airbox, to the left of the resonator chamber and held on with 1 phillips screw

If you havent disturbed it, i cant really see a problem did you remove any pipes?

Did you just remove the airbox or did you go the whole hog and remove the vac lines etc etc (the pipes near the injectors?)

If the car's running alright then just remove the fuse/battery, if it comes on again then I'd get the code read.

I literally unplugged that sensor, removed the airbox, and then did my thing and put it back.

THinking back however I did quickly start the car with the sensor unplugged to move it. I popped my k&n cone over the end of the pipe so it should just be that it went OMG I HAVE LOST A SENSOR!

Possibly, it may have detected it was not plugged in put an ECL up which it should then store the code, i would have thought after a bit it would recognise its been plugged in depends on how mnay miles you have done.

My advise is again, reset the light via fuse/battery method and see if it comes back on again

Either reset the ECU and relearn the idle
Or pull the code with and OBD reader and reset just the code

Look at the FAQ, its a small fuse under the dash near steering wheel or remove a terminal from the battery.

All is in the FAQ

Personally I would prefer to find out what the code was before wiping it. You will need a OBDII code reader to find out what it is. You can ask Honda, but they will charge you for the pleasure. For the same price you could pick up a code reader off eBay
