Default Engine mounts

Well yesterday (Saturday) I finally received my Innovative engine mounts

http://www.innovativemounts.com/ProductDet...oductCode=90750

I had been experiencing some engine movement for a while and coming off power the engine would move alot.

so started out, lifted the car up, positioned the engine crane and then began the work

well about an hour into it all, i had undone the near side (passenger side) mount and lowered the subframe, however i was inturupted by Jay (lucky77) with my pint of milk, even though i wanted a Litre of it

after i had fixed his bonnet catch and sent him on his merry way. i carried on so i removed the first mount, on looking at it i was pleased to see that it was not in very good condition. (f"$%ed to be accurate)

So i then carried on and started to remove the offside(drivers side) mount. as i did this i noticed something seriously wrong, it was in two parts

see what you think , buggered ??

No wonder the engine was moving under acceleration and deceleration, guess 410 ftlbs of torque is not so good to 135k engine mounts

So anyway onto the Innovative engine mounts,

I had done some research on them for a while and noticed a few guys in the USA had been using them and they have also been used alot on ep3 and tegs so i thought what the hell

They come in 4 different specs,

street 60a
track75a
race 85a
extreme 95a

I had seen and read about a few of the guys had the 60a (street) mounts, but they had changed them to the 75a(track) later down the line. easy to do, u just by the inner mount itself ie like pressing in and out of a bush.

So on reflection i decided due to the power i have, and that i am going to be doing Spa this year and maybe a few other tracks i decided to go for the 75a

To my surprise when i opened the box i thought hell they are solid, heavy and much bigger than i thought they would be

here are the pics, sorry on quality of these they were done on iphone

The box of goodie 2 x engine mounts 1 x transmision mount

engine mounts

Transmision mount

So once the engine mounts were fitted i fitted the transmission mount, and have to say my transmission mounts had seen better days, i had a new stock trans mount next to me , no flex, mine was like jelly

So i am sure you all want to know what they are like to drive with .....

Well one thing i noticed straight away, for years my gear shifter used to wobble about, now... Nothing, perfectly still , changing gear is slick, smooth, no more notchyness, when under hard acceleration before due to the engine movement and transmission mounts it would not always smoothly centre itself when you went from 2nd to 3rd but now, straight in line everything about it was awesome

as for the engine mounts, yes they are hard, however they need a few weeks to bed in but atm there is some engine vibration but the car puts down the power better, no more coming off the power and feeling the engine move about

well i need some more time driving with them, but first impressions the car feels great

some of the mounts fitted, sorry for crappy pics

State of the old ones

They are very well made and not as heavy as they look, glad you got them finished.Be interesting to see how stiff they are once they are all bedded in.

Ps You never paid me for the milk

sorry to topic dredge, but can the rear engine mounts be replaced by just dropping the subframe? or does the engine need to come out?

Just seen this, the new mounts look quite different to the old(engine) mounts, so instead of the mounts attaching with the two long studs do you bolt it using separate bolts now.? Sorry a little stupid in the am's.

All the mounts use the existing bolt holes with new bolts provided.

When jacking up the car for the wheels, I noticed a LOT of movement in the gearbox....could this have happened to mine!?
